a little bit of wisdom...
So I’ve always thought that I wasn’t the brilliant one and that I’ve never really had any kind of wisdom to share with anyone, but the other day mid-conversation a friend helped me realize that I was partially wrong. I was kind of contemplating why, before my dad died, no one had ever told me what kinds of things to intentionally try to remember about him, what kinds of things to intentionally try to forget, or even to just enjoy having a dad because he wouldn’t live forever. And then I told this friend, and I’m telling all of you, to remember to intentionally try to remember the good times when around family and close friends and intentionally try to not remember the not-so-good times. And I also told this friend, and again I’m also telling all of you, to not take family and close friends for granted because unfortunately those people won’t live forever…and that it’s usually not until after they’re gone that you realize how much they meant to you and how much you learned from them and even how much you just miss them being themselves for who they were…and it’s after they’re gone that you’ll wish you could remember the good times better and wish you forget the bad times more. That’s just what I’ve learned and what I’d like to share with those of you who haven’t thought about or been faced with this stuff yet in your lives.
