So I don’t really know where I’m going with this or really even how to explain everything but I’ve got to at least try to get this out. I’ve been stuffing everything down inside for this past 6 days which really doesn’t seem like all that long but to me seems like weeks. This past Wednesday I was diagnosed with something that I’d been suspecting to be the culprit for at least half of this past summer. I was told that I have fibromyalgia, and also possibly a pinched nerve somewhere in my back. They only have 1 medication approved by the FDA to treat this syndrome and so far it seems to not be working very well for me. Fibromyalgia is basically a pain syndrome that causes pain randomly for absolutely no reason whatsoever. For me, it causes almost constant back pain ranging from achiness to stabbing pain sometimes in 5-7 places all at once. It also causes random shooting pain in my knees and hips, lots of aching in my neck, excruciating headaches, and sharp pain in my teeth. Honestly, the thought that there’s only 1 medication specified to treat this and not a whole lot that they can do scares me to death.(ok so according to Amber there are 3 drugs for it now...) This lovely syndrome has also been causing me to get really confused a lot and I’ve been having a lot of trouble remembering things.(actually the confusion may be from my meds...i think...) I’m slowly beginning to understand certain other illnesses and the fear and other feelings that accompany them.
I started suspecting something was going on about halfway through July of this past summer. For no apparent reason all of this stuff just kind of randomly started up all at once and I was so confused because I had done absolutely nothing to injure myself or anything like that. It made no sense at all. After some search online and some serious prayer, my mom thought of fibromyalgia and looked up the symptoms most of which I was dealing with at the time. It wasn’t until August 26th that I was finally able to get in to see a doctor who very quickly realized that I did indeed have it and has so far been very helpful in attempting to figure out the best way of treating it. Unfortunately, the attempts so far have not been very successful at all. More updates will be coming shortly. Oh and the best website for fibromyalgia is: fibromyalgia
